Pool Filters

There are three main types of in-ground pool filters – D.E. Filters, Cartridge Filters, and Sand Filters. The Pool Boys sell and service all 3 types of Pool Filters.

An issue with your pool filter can lead to pool water becoming cloudy or green. Our experienced service technicians can diagnose and repair any problems you are having with your pool filter. If you are looking to upgrade to a new filter, Hayward, Jandy, and Pentair all have new models of filters in a variety of sizes to fit your application. We also provide filter cleaning and sand change out services to keep your filter operating at its best.

If you have a swimming pool or spa, you have some sort of filter. A swimming pool filter is required in order for your pool water to stay clean and clear. Your pool pump will circulate the water from the swimming pool, through the pool filter, and back to the swimming pool. The filter works hard to remove contaminants and debris from your water. The better you maintain your pool filter, the better your pool water will look.

No matter what type of filter you have, DE, Cartridge or Sand, it will need to be taken apart and cleaned out at some point. The more frequent you can clean your filter the better your swimming pool will perform. Cartridge and D.E. Filters typically need to be cleaned a minimum of twice per year as a part of your routine maintenance, even if your pool has been crystal clear all along. If you have a sand filter you typically won’t need to change the sand for several years, but will need to backwash the filter periodically.

Backwash Valves

Backwash Valves are mounted to Diatomaceous Earth Pool Filters (D.E.) or Sand Pool Filters and are used for multiple things. The most common uses are for “backwashing” and “wasting" water from your pool. If you have a Multiport Backwash Valve you can use a setting called “Recirculate” to bypass the filter, and still run your main circulation pump in the event your filter cracks. Backwash Valves are used on D.E. and Sand Filters, but not on Cartridge Filters.

Hayward, Jandy, and Pentair all have their own models of these valves which we can repair and/or replace as needed. The Pool Boys will help you locate and diagnose any problems that are occurring with your Backwash Valve. Whether it is a Push-Pull or Multiport, our techs will know what needs to be done to handle the problem if needed.
